My introduction to Intermittent Fasting

Last May I watched an episode on the Answers With Joe YouTube channel, where Joe explained intermittent fasting. I've linked to the video here so you can watch for yourself and see what he had to say about it.

This was my first introduction to Intermittent Fasting and Joe explained the possible benefits it might have in living a longer life. It also occurred to me that it might help me lose weight, something I've been wanting to do for many years but until that point I hadn't found an effective and comfortable way of doing so.

There are several ways of doing Intermittent Fasting, one is to fast totally for two days in every week. I couldn't see myself doing this. The other option which sounded far more doable, is to just eat between certain times in the day, 12-8pm, 2-8pm, 4-8pm etc. I knew if I didn't have breakfast I could go long into the day before I had to eat, so I decided to aim for just eating in the six hours between 2pm and 8pm every day.

For some reason, if I eat breakfast I just can't stop eating for the whole morning. Eating breakfast makes me feel more hungry than if I don't eat anything at all. When I used to eat breakfast I'd be constantly hungry and I'd end up eating my lunch early and then buying other snacks. I'd often eat the packed lunch I'd prepared for work and then later I'd buy a takeaway and maybe another snack later.

Intermittent Fasting was something I was confident I could do and I set out determined to make it work.
